Text: Psalm 139:1-2
"O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thoughts from afar."
We all know how emotions can influence decisions. Sometimes, they lead to regret. Scripture teaches us that feelings are fleeting, but God’s truth is unchanging.
God’s omniscience and your emotions
God knows us better than we know ourselves. He fully understands our thoughts and feelings. So, we should:
Pray for wisdom. Rely on God’s guidance instead of our emotions.
Study Scripture. Learn what God says about your situation and follow His principles.
Talk to other believers. Their perspective can help balance your emotions.
Feelings are temporary, but God’s truth is eternal
Emotions come and go like waves, but God’s truth remains constant. To focus on it:
Memorize Scripture to fill your mind with God’s perspective.
Step back when emotions are overwhelming and ask: "What does God say?"
Practice gratitude to shift your focus to God’s goodness.
Trust in God’s plan
When emotions try to take the lead, instead:
Involve God in your decisions. Pray and seek His guidance.
Wait for God’s timing. Patience brings peace and wisdom.
Surround yourself with spiritual community to help you stay on the right path.
Life example
Lisa trusted her feelings in a relationship, ignored red flags, and later felt disappointed. Jack relied on emotions for an investment and suffered major losses. Both learned that feelings can be misleading and that God’s wisdom is always reliable.
Let these examples remind you that feelings are part of life, but they should never be our sole guide. Trust God, live by faith, and let Him lead you.
Conclusion
When feelings lead you astray, return to God’s truth. Pray, read His Word, and trust His perfect will. Psalm 139 reminds us that God knows you completely – trust Him and His path for your life.
