Who is the right person?

Today, in our final sermon for this year, I touched upon the principle of a theme we will embrace in 2024. The theme is simple yet powerful: "If the right person is in the right place, at the right time, with the right purpose, we will achieve the right result." For today's message, I specifically focus on the first part of this statement: the "right person."
Who is the "Right Person"?
We all sometimes wonder about our own destiny, the role we play in the world, and how we are chosen. The Bible is full of examples of people specifically chosen by God to fulfill a particular role. From Abraham to Paul, they were chosen for specific purposes. But how does God choose the right person?
I'd like to refer to a passage in Ecclesiastes 9:1-10. These verses bring forth a truth we often ignore: we don't know what the future holds. It's this ignorance that reminds us we depend on a divine planned event rather than mere chance or fate.
The Role of Faith and Purpose
In Genesis 24:12, we see a servant praying for a divine encounter, a "qarah" - an encounter without prior arrangements, often between God and a person. It's a reminder that God calls each of us for a specific work. The right person is someone who pays attention to what lies ahead.
God rules over those who do what is right and wise, and also over anything that they do. The message is clear: the right person does what their hand finds to do. We don't need to wait for a clearly marked path but must take action and find work where we can add value.
Live in Faith, Work in Love, Walk in the Spirit
The Bible emphasizes that we are chosen for a specific purpose. It's not based on our merit but on God's plan for our lives. Jesus Himself explains this in John 15:16, where He says we are chosen to bear fruit. The plan is simple: make disciples of all nations.
I'd like to conclude with three practical principles for our journey:
Live in Faith: Trust in God's plan and walk with Him. Learn to hear His voice and act when He provides the opportunity.
Work in Love: Let love be the driving force behind all you do. It was love that led Jesus to die for us, and we must also demonstrate love for others.
Walk in the Spirit: We cannot achieve our purpose without the power of the Holy Spirit. It is His guidance that we need.
The Future Lies Ahead
Our theme for 2024 emphasizes the importance of each person's role and purpose. May we be the right person by living in faith, working in love, and walking in the Spirit. Our theme for this year is: Right place, Right time, Right purpose, Right result.
